Amore mio, Brno! A new cooking show by the Husa na provázku Theatre

The upcoming Made in Europe theatre season at the Husa na provázku Theatre will feature not only four productions but also a new community cooking format: Amore mio, Brno! In this event, Provázek newcomer Goran Maiello, who has Italian roots, will join forces with his fellow actor, the ‘eager learner from Třebíč’ Matouš Benda, to cook up an unforgettable evening with the audience in the spirit of Neapolitan exuberance. The first public preview of this theatrical-culinary show will take place at provázek.dvůr on 12 September 2026 from 7.00 pm. From October, it will then move to the more intimate setting of the rehearsal studio.

The desire to bring a little piece of Naples to Brno came from the actor and foodie Goran Maiello, whose genes, recipes and cooking naturally blend Czech, Italian and Balkan influences. He will be joined by the actor Matouš Benda as his sous-chef.

“The idea of putting on a cooking show at Provázek stemmed from my desire to bring a little piece of Italy to Brno, which feels like a second home to me. I wanted to bring these two worlds together around a single table,” says Goran Maiello, explaining the concept behind the project, and adds: “What I love about Italian dining is that it’s actually an everyday ritual. It naturally incorporates a theatricality full of authentic moments. The person doing the cooking is, in a way, at the centre of it all, and it’s entirely up to them how they play that leading role. Then they eat, chat, discuss, and laugh. I find it wonderful that the whole family does something so fundamental together every day. And it is precisely this simple act of sharing a meal that can bring people together in an incredible way.”

“Goran didn’t have to persuade me for long to join him on this gastronomic adventure. It’s a huge challenge, but I’m looking forward to it – playfulness and improvisation have to be 100% present! We want to turn the saying ‘See Naples and die’ into: ‘Experience Amore mio, Brno! and love it.’ And that way, there’s no need to go to Naples and die…” adds Matouš Benda.

“We were thrilled by the idea that the two youngest members of our ensemble would cook regularly with the audience of Provázek. Goran and Matouš are also brilliant entertainers and improvisers, so I’m sure the fun will be guaranteed. With a Neapolitan and a ‘Třebíčák’ in the kitchen, it’ll be, above all, passion (and occasionally even hell) on a plate,” says dramaturge Veronika Onheiserová, inviting audiences to the September premiere, which she believes will extend the last days of summer – at least for a little while.

Community cooking sessions, authentic Neapolitan recipes, culinary entertainment and, above all, good food – the new cookery show Amore mio, Brno! has it all!

The open-air premiere in September takes place on 12 September 2026. Admission is free and capacity is unlimited. Seats at a table for 17 October 2026 and other dates must be booked in advance on the theatre’s website, provazek.cz.
