The Centre for Experimental Theatre in April at the ARCHA+ in Prague

Husa na provázku Theatre, HaDivadlo, and Terén will present their repertoire at venues of ARCHA+ in Prague. From April 16 to 21, 2026, Prague audiences will have the opportunity to see the latest premieres from the Centre for Experimental Theatre.

In mid-April 2026, audiences in the Czech capital will have the opportunity to experience the theatrical productions of Brno-based theaters operating under the umbrella of the Centre for Experimental Theatre at venues of ARCHA+. Alongside Husa na provázku Theatre, HaDivadlo and Terén will also present the latest productions from their repertoires.

On Thursday, April 16, 2026, Husa na provázku Theatre will kick off its season with a production directed by Eliška Balog titled My Hooves Have Already Torn Up the Ground. The production, which features the cat Emilka Říhová as one of its protagonists, invites audiences on a poetic, original journey exploring our contemporary understanding of nature and its stereotypes.

On Friday, April 17, you’ll have the chance to see the final premiere of the past theatre season at Husa na provázku Theatre — the staged concert I’m saving you a spot, which features the most famous Slovak melodies as well as the most cringeworthy Czech stereotypes. The production was created for the Elizabethan stage of Husa na provázku Theatre by resident director Anna Davidová.

On Saturday, April 18, Terén will perform on the small stage of ARCHA+. They will present the production In the Glare of Lightning for children and their parents twice (at 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.). Creators Robert Smolík and Veronika Vlková invite anyone who isn’t afraid to get dirty to a landscape of objects that hide the seeds of transformation.
At 7:00 PM, Provázek will take the stage again, bringing the production Darwin & co. to the main venue. The first dramatic text by acclaimed prose writer Petr Šesták, written specifically for the Provázek ensemble and directed by Anna Davidová. Inspired by the phenomenon of the Darwin Awards, the production asks whether our species can be driven from the world not only by stupidity but also by its intelligence.

Sunday, April 19, starting at 2:00 p.m., will feature the production Don’t Be Afraid, directed by Štěpán Gajdoš, in which Provázek’s Studio 60+ asks: When will I finally stop being afraid?
At 7:00 PM, we can look forward to the production of Satan in Goray on the main stage. This adaptation of Isaac Bashevis Singer’s novel was directed by Janusz Klimsza. Is it even possible to resist the temptation to achieve instant redemption? Especially when it’s available with just one click? And can we tell the difference between the devil and the redeemer?

Finally, on April 21, the entire program will conclude with HaDivadlo, which will present its latest production, Memory Burn, to Prague audiences at 7:00 p.m. The very first theatrical adaptation of Marek Torčík’s acclaimed novel, which won the 2024 Magnesia Litera Award for prose, is a story about the search for identity, the courage to tell one’s own story, and the fear of returning to places that both shape and wound a person.

“We are delighted to be able to present, for the very first time, the full range of genres and themes across all our theaters in such a concentrated format,” says Jan Búrik, director of the Centre for Experimental Theatre, as he invites audiences to the week-long program at ARCHA+.
