Terén will launch a magazine supporting resistance against the Russian invasion at the Brno City Council Club
Terén will start the new season with the gathering May the orchard of hopes bloom – magazine launch/ Хай квітне сад надій – презентація журналу. On September 13, 2025 at 5:00 pm, the Brno City Councilors Club will reopen to people who sympathize with the resistance against the growing authoritarianism and inequality in the world, and to those who have come to Brno to seek refuge from the imperial invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine. The event will centre on the launch of the resulting magazine If My Tears Had Power, which will be accompanied by a collective preparation feast, film screenings, a performance by the Vidrodzhenya/Hor Відродження choir and a concert by Amelia Siba. The event is produced in collaboration with the Resistance Support Club.
The featured magazine If My Tears Had Power is produced by the Resistance Support Club collective with Ukrainian activists, women activists, artists and resistance groups. Every single piece of the magazine is unique due to its cover made of original embroidery made by the participants at the meeting in May. The publication will also be available later in an online version in Czech and Ukrainian.

The publication features an interview with artist Alevtina Kakhidze and filmmaker Tetiana Khodakivska about the situation of Ukrainian children abducted to re-education camps in the Russian Federation, which is a follow-up to the forthcoming documentary film. Through a chain of letters from intermediaries, three contemporary resistance movements Yellow Ribon, Bojovi čajky and Zla Mavka, which are active in the occupied areas of Ukraine, present their lives and activities during the occupation. Also published will be a memoir of artist and defender Davyd Chichkan through the eyes of his fellow fighters, activists, artists and curators. If My Tears Had Strength is accompanied by illustrations by Anna Tichá, Davyd Chichkan, Alevtina Kakhidze and Barbora Kurtinová.
The visitors are invited to join in the preparation of a feast with traditional Ukrainian specialties prepared by the collective of the social-ecological NGO NESEHNUTÍ – Dobrošstvo Czáry Wáry. In contrast to the spring cooking of thousands of vareniki, this time sweet and savoury stuffed pancakes – nalysnyky and potato and beetroot salad – vinehre will be available. The choir Vidrodzhenya / Хор Відродження will be singing for cooking, eating and contemplating.

The meeting will conclude with a musical performance by Amelia Siba, a Prague singer-songwriter who is one of the most prominent voices of the contemporary Czech independent music scene.

May the orchard of hopes bloom / Хай квітне сад надій builds on the work of the volunteer initiative Resistance Support Club, which is involved in material and technological support for the Ukrainian population and especially left-wing activists serving in the Ukrainian army. As part of linking culture with activism, the collective organizes fundraising and educational events.
The project May the orchard of hopes bloom / Хай квітне сад надій is part of a series of one-off art projects called Nové sady. It is a loose series of performative activities, events, videos, happenings, interventions or installations, which are produced in various Brno non-theatre spaces, such as galleries, public spaces and squares, or in forgotten corners with a distinctive genius loci.
