Coming off the Tracks

A CED discussion on the (post) pandemic situation

Friday 18 September 2020

At the beginning of the season, the Centre for Experimental Theatre, in cooperation with Husa na provázku Theatre, HaDivadlo Theatre and the Terén platform, organized a series of four discussions to reflect on important themes and current events related (not only) to the spread of COVID-19. This form of reflecting together thus marked the symbolic opening of theatre season 2020-21.

“We consider the period of emergency declared in connection with the spread of COVID-19 and its consequences to be unprecedented in many respects. We are facing completely new risks, but, at the same time, we can see how the unforeseen situation is exacerbating existing systemic weaknesses. Do we want to get back on the same tracks with their structural problems, or do we perceive the current crisis as an opportunity for more profound change?”

From 4 pm until 10 pm, a total of thirteen guests and four moderators gathered in the Grand Hall of Husa na provázku Theatre to discuss - looking critically at the current crisis and thinking not only about ways to reconstruct the pre-pandemic situation, but, particularly, about possible forms transformation - consciously coming off the tracks of previous ways of thinking and forms of self-organization.

The whole discussion is featured in the fourth issue of CEDIT magazine.
