The complex of buildings on Zelný trh is to undergo a renovation
The Baroque House of the Lords of Fanal, the New Stage of the Husa na provázku Theater, and between them the Elizabethan Stage—the buildings of the Centre for Experimental Theater are soon to undergo much-needed renovation.
On February 11, 2026, the Brno City Council approved an investment plan, and our buildings are now scheduled for renovation.
The complex of buildings on Zelný trh consists of the Baroque House of the Lords of Fanal, the Elizabethan Stage, and the New Stage of the Husa na provázku Theater. In addition to the Husa na provázku Theater, the buildings on Zelný trh now also house the dramaturgical and production platform Terén, the CED library and archive, and the administrative base of the Centre for Experimental Theater. The renovation will take place in several stages to minimize interruption to theater activities.
The main points of the renovation will include replacing the electrical wiring, water and sewage pipes, and renovating the heating system. In addition, an elevator will be added to the House of the Lords of Fanal, new flooring will be laid, and much more. The actual implementation of the project will follow the completion of the project documentation.
We look forward to the renovation ensuring that the CED buildings will reliably serve not only current artists, but also all those who will be creating theater here for many years to come.
